"Dance.Pretend. Forget.Defend"

BIGGEST SALE EVER! Jairus & FDLS albums ONLY £3!

Tuesday 17th April, 2007 - Shell Beach - Budapest Hungary Earth (Weird isn't it)

For those who know me, know how much I love Newborn. So I'm always excited to hear any Hungarian band because you just don't know! Hungary brought my favourite band ever Newborn to the world, a lot of other bands I like loads like The Idoru, Bridge To Solace, Embers. Right now say hello to SHELL BEACH - absolutely incredible, my heart skipped a couple of beats when I heard this!!! Incredible!

Saturday 24th February, 2007 - Fordirelifesake 'Dance. Pretend. Forget. Defend'

Nice to see Fordirelifesake receive such a great review at Lambgoat.com - 'This is one of more musically varied albums of this year (2005), and I think Fordirelifesake really pulls it off here. Plenty of strange techno 'in-between' tracks, a cover superior to the original, and intense songwriting. This isn't for everyone, but I think this is at least worth checking out.'

Thursday 25th January, 2007 - Let Us At Last Praise The Colonizers Of Dreams

As I sang the words of Newborn (the BEST band EVER) 'Ready To Leave, Ready To Live' 9 months ago whilst heading to the airport for my around the world trip, I never really thought what it would be like to finally come back! Well, here I am back in London, flew in from Colombia and the trip has been beyond incredible! Getting used to the cold so I built a snowladyboy yesterday, but apart from that it's so heart-warming to see family and friends again finally. I'm editing my documentary video at the moment, so you can enjoy all the places I've been to without spending a penny/cent/peso soon.

I want to thank Sam Kuper for running the mailorder whilst I have been away, you are a star and I hope you guys have been kind to him! I'm off to see my 2 favourite UK hiphop acts Foreign Beggars and Skinnyman, so catch you guys soon.

Friday 12th January, 2007 - A Search For An Answer

So it's been 9 months I have been travelling around the world, and in the words of Deluge the trip has been "A Search For An Answer"! Right now I am sat in Cartagena, North Colombia, it's around 39 degrees outside and blue skies everyday! It's incredible what that can do to a soul. I absolutely love Colombia and the people here are incredible! Hello to all my new friends I've made along the trip! Hope everyone is enjoying themselves, Skippy from Colombia!

Thursday 21st December, 2006 - This Song: For The True And Passionate Lovers Of Music

I want to wish everybody a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. May 2007 bring amazing adventures to everybody and be even better than this year! All the best from Skippy from Colombia.

Saturday 2nd December, 2006 - Colombia, Brazil and Peru

Hello everyone, my journey took me to Cambodia where I visited the greatest temples in the world Angkor Wat! These are the most incredible ancient temples I have seen in my life! After Cambodia, I flew to Colombia (yes a nice 24 hour flight), where I am currently now enjoying the life and beautiful sights here. I absolutely love it here as I speak fluent spanish it really makes the experience amazing. We went to the Amazon for a week and where at the border of Brazil and Peru and Colombia, incredible time fishing, walking in the jungle, catching baby crocodiles. An experience of my life to spend a week in the Amazon! Skippy

Sunday 5th November, 2006 - Vietnam, me love you long time!

Hey! Skippy here from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam! Been about 5 weeks now in South East Asia travelling across Thailand, Laos and Vietnam and it has been beyond incredible. Heading to Cambodia in few days time to see Angkor Wat, supposed to be one of the world greatest temples! So many crazy times, I have met so many new friends and incredibly funny and talented people, good times! Saigon is beyond incredible, this place is the mix of old and new, anything is possible here trust me! Tomorrow heading to see the tunnels used during the war. Seems like I've made it in time for the best weather too, its hardly ever below 30 degrees here and sunny everyday! Hope everyone is ok, Skippy

Thursday 5th October, 2006 - The Need To Change The Mapmaker

I know that Jairus are not signed to Skipworth anymore but we did spend a couple of wonderful years working and touring together around the world and I feel we are still friends. So just to let you know, Jairus have posted a very informative update on their forthcoming new album and future touring and a new video, check it out at Jairusonline.co.uk. The Jairus 'The Need To Change The Mapmaker' 2004 debut album and their Japanese Tour CDep are still available from our E-Store, so grab a copy before they are all gone.

Saturday 30th September, 2006 - Ready To Leave, Ready To Live

Hi everyone, just dropping a quick hello to everyone. It's a beautiful sunny Saturday in London and it's amazing to be back to see family and my friends after my 4 months travelling around the whole of Europe. My highlight for sure was Croatia - I can't even begin to describe how beautiful Croatia is in every sense. It's a paradise, trust me wait till you see my travel video. My travels took me over the last 4 months to Portugal, Spain, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Italy (for 1 night haha) and Greece.

So, these days I'm just chilling at home reading a huge Lonely Planet guide to Asia (don't worry I have loads of recommendations from friends too), relaxing at home and just waiting to fly out next week to Thailand.

Sam is still processing all the e-Store orders and I'm delivering more stock to him this week. Thank you so much to everyone who has been buying the releases, Sam tells me there's been a huge amount of orders in the time I was gone which is amazing to see. Thank you again. Ok that's all for today, I'm going to catch up with the album releases I've missed over the last 4 months. Enjoy the weekend! Skippy

Tuesday 26th September, 2006 - At Athens Airport

Well, here I am at Athens airport it's coming up to midnight and my flight back to London is at 3am - nice! I have been travelling and hitchhiking and camping throughtout the whole of Europe for the past 4 months, it has been beyond incredible! Picture it as the 'Skippy Europe Tour'. I have so many fond memories it's unreal. Meeting my very close and old friends like Sam Kuper (Abjure drummer) and Frank Turner (Kneejerk, Million Dead) along the way brought back amazing memories of touring back in late 90's and memories of Skipworth. These are great guys and very close friends. But I also met so many other friends along the way, it's been unbelievable and made me feel alive and happy again. Ok enough of my ranting. I'm going to spend a few days in London at home with family and see all my friends, and then few days later head out to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, and then come back and go to Colombia for November and December with my best friend Laszlo! This is the trip I dreamt of for years and a trip of a lifetime. I am loving every single second. OK, the free internet is running out so I'm off for a shot of Ouzo and some fresh air. Skippy from sunny Athens!

Saturday 23rd September, 2006 - King Without A Crown

I'm in a beautiful place called Naxos Island in Greece, it's 36 degrees everyday and Matisyahu is on the radio - beautiful music and incredible places. I have been travelling around Europe now for almost 4 months and next week I finally fly home to London. It has been more than incredible hitchhiking and camping around Europe, it's been incredible to meet so many amazing people and new friends. Ok I write more when I'm back in London next week, stay safe and enjoy every single day in your life!!! Love from Naxos Island, Greece - Skippy

Monday 11th September, 2006 - Croatia is paradise!!!

Hello to everybody from sunny and hot Croatia. I have been in Croatia for the past 3 weeks and this is by far the most beautiful place I have seen. Architecture, history and the islands are simply like paradise and it doesn't hurt to have blue skies and 40 degrees weather everyday whilst island hoping. So I didn't make it to Montenegro and Albania so had to get ferry to Bari in South Italy (where I am now killing the day whilst waiting for my overnight ferry to Greece). Just wanted to say hello, I'm still alive and few days ago I celebrated 3 months on the road ;) Yeah. A bit hello to all my friends, miss you guys. Big shout out to all my new from from Croatia - Ewen, Jazz, Ray (g'day mate) and Kyle. Also to Jenny, Helen and Laura - peace enjoy Sopot! And not forgetting the Frenchies Cedrik (I'll be back hehe), Bruno and Tibo 'Be Careful' haha. See you soon, Skippy 'Ready To Leave, Ready To Live'

Tuesday 15th August, 2006 - Hello from Sziget Festival in Hungary

Hi everyone, so my travels continue, I am now in Hungary and currently at the Sziget Festival about to go see Living Colour and then Prodigy (Yes yes). Enjoying the hot sunny weather out here and company of friends. Budapest is such a beautiful city, especially in the summer. Got to go, bye Skippy

Monday 31st July, 2006 - Right now... Riga, Latvia

Hello from Riga, Latvia! I am having an awesome time visiting my close friend Edgars and today checked out the old town. Yesterday managed to see Sequioa (France) play in Riga. Great show and they are such nice guys, partied with them till the morning! Quite funny because they sent me their demo about 2 years ago so was a great surprise to see them live.

Just got an email from Sam saying that he will be away on a conference in the USA until the 9th of August. Therefore, all orders between now and the 9th will not be sent out until the 10th. You guys will be ok, right? Take care from Skippy and Sam.

Saturday 29th July, 2006 - At the Poland - Lithuanian border

I am right now at the Polish Lithuanian border, reminds me of 4 years ago when I was here with Deluge on tour! So I missed my train to Riga so have to stay the night here. My trip through Europe is still an amazing adventure, I've seen so many places and met so many new friends it's unreal. I advise everyone to travel! Apart from that my next stop is Vilnius and Riga. Then I will head back to Poland and to Hungary.

Apart from that, I want to thank everyone who has been ordering CDs - from people's feedback I hear Sam is doing an amazing job. Thank you Sam! Hi to Will from South Africa (thanks for all the nice emails and orders).

Last but not least, SHAI HULUD, yes the one and only SHAI HULUD are playing in Greece when I'm there doing the island hoping! I'm seeing them on 19th September in Athens! One of my all time favourite hardcore bands, it's going to be incredible. Ok take care, Skippy

Friday 14th July, 2006 - Buenos Dias, Dzien Dobry!

I've been so many places, I've seen so many faces... Portugal was incredible, an amazing roadtrip through the whole of Portugal with some of my closest friends! Then I hit the south coast of Spain - this was insane, extremely beautiful and a lot of fun. Hoolllaaaa! Then on 5th of July we flew from Jerez (Spain) to Gdansk (Poland) and been hanging out in Sopot. Incredible weather, beautiful women and very friendly people. I love my home country. Ok I will write more soon, enjoy the hot weather wherever you are. Skippy

Sunday 4th June, 2006 - Ready To Leave, Ready To Live

So, you are probably wondering what the headline is all about? Well, Skippy has decided to go travelling, leaving today to go for 4 months around Europe. Imagine this as a little 'tour' of my own. I'm getting to see a lot of amazing European countries and to travel with some of my best friends! I'm really restless and excited about it, can't wait to leave as it's always been my dream to keep traveling. Before I go, I wanted to say again THANK YOU to all the bands on Skipworth that we have worked with, it has been incredible. Things are not shutting down here as such, the online store will continue working as usual being run by a good friend of mine. I also have to extend my thanks to everyone who has been ordering CDs and written us emails, again thank you so much for checking out what we and our bands do. So, it's goodbye for now and enjoy the summer whilst it's still here. Skippy

Sunday 26th February, 2006 - Set Your Body Ablaze

Just joking! Don't set your body ablaze, only the mighty Shai Hulud can do that in musical styles offcourse. And Newborn! You see Newborn and Shai Hulud are life-changing (for me anyway) bands! So as I sit here listening to the above, I thought to drop a quick hello to you all. Who has seen the NEW Fordirelifesake DVD? Amazing in every way! My favourite band also! Other than that, again, thank you to every single person who has been ordering CDs from Skipworth, really it's amazing to see packages going to Malaysia, Latvia, Finland, Denmark, USA, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Australia - I don't know you name it! So again girls and boys thank you so much for that. Over and out!

Saturday 7th January, 2006 - Just to clear things up...

The video for Ara Pacis is available for download from the Skipworth site because people kept emailing me saying that they cannot find the video and if I can put it up. Funnily enough, I did a little search and can't find a link to the video on neither the Jairus or BSM sites (strange). So I put up a copy of the video I had on my computer on the Skipworth server for people to view. The whole video includes footage Skippy and Jairus filmed during the tours they did whilst on Skipworth (Japan and Baltic States) and also it is a song off the Jairus album which Skipworth released. Hopefully this clears things up.

Saturday 31st December, 2005 - Too Close To See

Almost there now. Sometimes it is enough to only pause for a second and realise that what's really important is a friend's smile, their warm words and friendship! I wish everyone this in the New Year and all the best for 2006, Skippy.

Sunday 11th December, 2005 - Celebrating 7th Anniversary of Skipworth

I cannot quite believe I am writing this 'Celebrating the 7th Anniversary of Skipworth'.
It all began in December of 1998, now 7 years down the line and 8 releases! Well, that's not that many releases compared to other labels, but going on around 30 tours all over the world has been absolutely the best experiences ever, releasing what I consider to be amazing albums and meeting some of the most dedicated, passionate and honest people around, as well as some dishonest ones! It has been incredible and hopefully will continue to be, sort of like a roller coaster.

Again thanks to everyone who has been here with me through the good, great and some bad days!

Sunday 16th October, 2005 - Jairus 'Ara Pacis' Video from Japan/Baltics

You can view the Jairus video filmed on tour in Japan and Baltic States to Ara Pacis, from The Need To Change The Mapmaker album here. It has some funny moments, enjoy it!

Saturday 24th September, 2005 - Thanks for all the orders!

So Skippy didn't go to Australia to see Shai Hulud. All I can say is thanks to everybody for all your orders in the recent months. Look out for a cool announcement in the next few days.

Friday 12th August, 2005 - Happy Birthday to Daiki of Alliance Trax

I send Happy Birthday wishes to my very close friend Daiki Takeda of Alliance Trax Japan. One of the most amazing, hard working, passionate and dedicated people I've met. Hanging out twice on tour with him in Japan was amazing so I wish him the best on his birthday!!! Party hard and konichiwa! Skippy

Friday 15th July, 2005 - Shai Hulud tour Australia and NZ

Woah, one of my all time favourite bands and lyricist Shai Hulud are touring (!!!) down under! Let's organize a group trip - who is up for it?

Friday 8th July, 2005 - Events in London!

Hi to everyone and thank you to everyone who has emailed me and texted to see that we are ok. Both Skippy and Hugo are fine after the events in London yesterday. At this moment our thoughts go out to the families and people that were involved in the events and those injured.

Monday 11th April, 2005 - Fordirelifesake Japan & Europe tours

Plans are being made for Fordirelifesake Japan and Europe tours this year so hold on tight. We know, we know we all have been waiting.

Saturday 19th March, 2005 - Metal Hammer!!

This months Metal Hammer (My Chemical Romance on the cover) is a fantastic one for Skipworth as we have 2 great pieces in there. Check out the 'Incoming' section page 75 for a short read about FDLS and then jump to page 80/81 for a huge piece about Jairus! We're so psyched about the support MH have shown us and our bands and both pieces are really well written and look amazing. A massive thank you from the Skipworth crew goes out to MH and now all you've got to do is get your asses down to the shops and buy it!!

What are you still doing here? GO!

Thursday 3rd March, 2005 - FDLS another awesome UK review

It's extremely pleasant to keep seeing the amazing reviews the new Fordirelifesake album Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend keeps receiving. Here is another review this time from UK's StraightJacket Promotions website. You can read the full review here. Many thanks to Alex for writing the review! Also, thanks a lot to everybody that has checked out the record, we have had some amazing emails and comments about it so we are glad you like it so much!

Saturday 19th February, 2005 - FDLS reviews from Holland

Awesome reviews of the new Fordirelifesake album Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend just don't stop coming in, which we are so proud of. The latest are from 2 of my personal favourite ezines from Holland and here are some quotes (click on the link to view full review):

AsIce.net
4/5**** "On 'Dance.Pretend.Forget.Pretend’ they are adding other influences like technoparts, violins, cellos and even a piano. They even rebuild the “March of the Pigs” cover of Nine Inch Nails by adding the typically Fordirelifesake guitar riffs."

InsideKnowledge.net
"This Detroit combo seems to use jazz as the grease to keep the different wheels of their musical machine going".

Wednesday 16th February, 2005 - Jairus review

It may have been released a while ago but people keep sending us their reviews of the Jairus album. It's awesome to see how much people love it. The guys at www.decoymusic.com just sent us the review and its pretty amazing. Have a read for yourself:

Let’s face it: “screamo” is a dying trend; bands like Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Senses Fail, and A Thorn For Every Heart have taken a genre that was once a breath of fresh air and make it a trend. Bands like Saetia, Thursday, Grade, and other bands who did played it right are not given the credit they deserve and are often at times blamed for the other bands. Here enters Jairus from the United Kingdom, a band who does the singingscreaming thing justice – finally.

Interestingly enough the album name strikes an interest with me: The Need to Change the Mapmaker could be a reference to the direction music is taking these days; in other words, someone needs to change the direction of music.

The album starts off with an underlying synth and drums; a discordant guitar chord sounds and about twenty seconds in you are met with an explosion. Such energy flows from these guys in every aspect. The guitars are a beautiful blend of distortion, heavy parts, breakdowns, and screechy chords; don’t get me wrong many bands do this to the point of annoyance and make it suck but these guys make an atmosphere with their music. In all honesty this is the album Hopesfall wishes they released. There is an urgency in Jairus’s music that is unmatched. Throughout the album there are traces of synthesizers and a lot of times bands place them in and they are out of place; in this case they blend perfectly with the music.

“Our Modern Red Selfless” is an interlude and it fits in well with the rest of the c.d. unlike many other interludes. It leads you to the song “Abandons Their Exterior Look” which is a more slow-paced song, which leads to echo-effected screams making him seem far away or screaming from the dead if you will.

This album is completely flawless; it shifts so many times, but is able to keep your attention. I think it may be safe to say that Jairus is the Godsend that this genre has been looking for. If you think “screamo” has been butchered to a pulp then listen to Jairus’s The Need To Change The Mapmaker and you will be proven wrong.

Tuesday 15th February, 2005 - FDLS review in Rock Sound

Another amazing review has come out for the brand new Fordirelifesake album. Go grab a copy of the new issue of Rock Sound now before it sells out! (Its the March issue with Green Day on the cover)

Rock Sound: March 2005
8/10

There's no messing about here. The moment you press play Fordirelifesake plunge you into fast moving, melodic yet unnerving hardcore reminiscent of From Autumn to Ashes. The cello and violins on 'Something Missing' are masterfully introduced to complement the roaring vocals of Matthew Wedge, while the lyrics are predictably emotional but not comical: always a relief with this style of music. But then, despite their youth, Fordirelifesake are no strangers to this scene. They've supported Walls of Jericho and Poison The Well and they've clearly picked up some lessons from the masters without letting themselves get stuck in one narrow genre. They've even courageously covered 'March Of The Pigs' by NIN and managed to do it justice. An alarming three years since the release of their debut album, 'Dance. Pretend. Forget. Defend' is set to firmly re-establish the band where they left off.

Monday 14th February, 2005 - Big Cheese review FDLS

The Fordirelifesake album Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend released last week, keeps receiving amazing reviews to our joy. Here is the latest from Big Cheese Magazine UK:

Big Cheese UK: Issue 60 February 2005
4/5 Superior melodic metalcore from Detroit
To describe the whole screamo / metalcore scene as saturated right now would be an understatement and as such a band needs to do something pretty special to stand out from the crowd. Luckily, with their second album 'Dance. Pretend. Forget. Defend', Fordirelifesake have done just that. While the likes of 'Recover' and 'We Are The Company We Keep' don't sound a million miles from Alexisonfire or A Static Lullaby (no bad thing) with screamy hardcore grating against almost ambient melody, the band are at their best when they bring something new to the table:
Witness the female vocals on 'Circles and Cycles', the dance beats of 'Twenty Nine Minutes Defend Twenty Two Years' and a suprisingly successful cover of Nine Inch Nails 'March Of The Pigs'. Top stuff. Nick Mann

Thursday 10th February, 2005 - FDLS review in Kerrang UK

The new Fordirelifesake album Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend has received an incredible review in this weeks Kerrang UK and 4Ks (out of 5), which we are stoked about:

KERRANG! KKKK (UK - Issue No 1043 February 12, 2005)
Detroit post-hardcore crew set out their stall.
Fordirelifesake manage something quite remarkable on this, their second album: a post-hardcore sound that's utterly unique. The quintet are at turns artful, angry, frantic, emotional and never more than a few seconds from acerbic shredding guitars. Pinning down their sound is like trying to catch flies with chopsticks, but if you can imagine the ferocity of Poison The Well tempered with the evocative song writing of Brand New, all wrapped up in the artistic depth of Tool, you'll be as close as mere words can get you. A few moody instrumentals and a joke hair-metal hidden track are all that stand between this and the full five Ks. If you've even a passing interest in the genre you need this record.

Tuesday 18th January, 2005 - Update from Latvia

Just a quick hello from lovely Latvia. After being a minute away from missing my flight (I was stuck in traffic), me and Jairus made it to Riga. Jairus, well Jay and Dan, are sitting next door doing an interview at NABA Radio Latvia and playing Sabina In The Deceiving Breeze and The Ileon right now. Everything is awesome, we went out to some great bars and clubs last night and danced our butts off. Also we went go-karting which was awesome, some very fast racing. Right now Jairus have one more interview and then we leave for Lithuania.

The brand new Jairus / The Stiff "Japan Tour" CDEP is available now in our re-designed e-Store. It was released in Japan by Alliance Trax and we managed to bring some copies back. The CDEP features one brand new song by Jairus "Sabina In The Deceiving Breeze", one brand new tune by The Ileon (Jairus electronica sideproject) and 2 songs by The Stiff. Friday 31st December, 2004 - Thank You!

I want to wish all my friends and everyone the best things in the New Year 2005. Have a great time celebrating today!

Saturday 18th December, 2004 - Update

Jairus and I landed back in London from Japan in one piece on Monday, next day I had my university graduation ceremony and party, so now I am a graduate. Hooray. Having now recovered from Japan here are some reflections on the tour.

First of all, Skippy and Jairus send massive thanks to Daiki Takeda for organising such an amazing tour, and Shoichi, Aki, Shintaro, Toku, Hino and Adam from The Stiff for showing us support and kindness beyond anything the 6 of us have known so far in our lives. The Stiff are a true inspirational band to all of us! This goes out to the guys from The Stiff and Daiki who have such kind hearts, and now hold a large place in mine! I want to say hello to all the amazing bands we met on tour that played with Jairus such as Naiad (your Kyoto show was the most insane ever!), Endzweck (knowledge), Samurider, Irrivaly, As Meias, Buddihitson, Use My Third Arm, Black Line Fever, Amok, Balloons, Kamome Kamome and The True Path.

I want to thank Jairus for sharing so many great moments on tour with me, we know it was amazing experiencing this together (yeah coz like!). So now that we are back, this concludes 15 months touring in support of their debut album "The Need To Change The Mapmaker" which took Jairus (and Skippy) across 2 continents and 10 countries. Thanks to everybody in Japan that came to the shows, and all the great new friends we met out there.

Thursday 14th October, 2004 - Jairus Japan Tour Dates

For an independant record label like Skipworth to post news that one of their bands is touring in Japan is a dream come true but to announce it a year later again is just out of this world! Last year (March 2003) Fordirelifesake toured in Japan in support of their album and now I am over the moon (sorry just fell of my chair...) to announce that Jairus will be on their first Japan tour 1-13 December 2004 presented by Alliance Trax Japan in support of their 2004 debut album "The Need To Change The Mapmaker" (Skipworth / Alliance Trax). I was honoured to go to Japan with Fordirelifesake and now I will again be accompaning Jairus, which is another dream come true! We want to thank every person that comes to shows for your support this year and all the promoters for their booking work, what a way to end a year! So we will see you all in Japan, arigato.

Thanks to everybody we met in Finland at the shows, it was just so amazing and they were incredible.

Tuesday 25th May, 2004 - A lot of thanks

Well, I think the time has come to say a massive major thank you to all the people who have been ordering from us, buying the Skipworth releases and coming out to the shows. It’s still a surprise to me to see everyday so many people come to this website and order stuff, so I just wanted to thank every single person for the amazing support Skipworth, Jairus, Fordirelifesake and Deluge have had from you. We are so amazed at how many people checked out the new Jairus album, again thank you so much.

I also want to take this time to thank everyone who visits this website, spreads info on forums, downloads MP3s and videos, spreads the news around, checks out the gigs, people who help with bookings and everyone that makes friendships with us along the way – it’s something really important to us. It’s so great to see things going so well, it definitely fills us all with a lot of enthusiasm and energy to keep taking things forward. OK, have a great week and salut a Steve Perreux de La Rochelle, our new Skipworth Team Member based in France! Skippy.

Thursday 13th May, 2004 - Fordirelifesake News

Fordirelifesake ohh yes, our Detroit boys have been super busy touring and writing for their next album due out later this year on Skipworth Records (Europe). You have probably seen the announcement that Fordirelifesake are playing this years Hellfest and finally the European Tour is pencilled in too.

Wednesday 5th May, 2004 - New Jairus video & ThePRP.COM feature

The Jairus album has been out for 6 weeks now and here comes the 2nd video for OUR MODERN RED, SELFLESS taken from "The Need To Change The Mapmaker". We finished this about a month ago and just put the finishing touches, the theme is more an insight into Jairus on tour just chilling out packed with loads of photos and videos from Finland and Latvia, us on the plane, Skippy jumping in snow etc. Check the video out here.

Woah woah how awesome is this, check out Jairus being featured band of the month at the mighty ThePRP.COM. Thanks a lot to all the guys at ThePRP.COM for such kind words on the album, it's awesome that it left an impression with them too and thanks to everybody who has got a copy of the album - hope you like it. ThePRP.COM says "Jairus weave the complex sounds of modern hardcore with post rock resulting in a rich tapestry of sound. Epic, meandering, atmospheric, dynamic, and at times beautiful, Jairus have created a pioneering sound that draws comparison to luminaries from as far a field as Poison The Well, The Mars Volta, Hopesfall and the space rock of Mogwai."

THIS Friday at 7am GMT there will be 1 Jairus song played on CMPRADIO.CO.UK check it out crashing radio waves!

If you haven't yet checked out THE ILEON (side-project Ricky from Jairus) check it out as you can still download the whole new EP for free. It's much more ambient electronica kind of stuff, similar to track 5 on the Jairus album.

Tuesday 27th April, 2004 - Poisonfree, Planet-Loud, Wmtd, Rocksound

Hey everyone, I just posted a whole load of new reviews of Jairus album The Need To Change The Mapmaker in reviews. Check it out if you want to know what Poisonfree, Planet-Loud, Wmtd-zine.com, Fury Fanzine and loads of others said.

Thursday 22nd April, 2004 - Holland's Wmtd-Zine.com review

Online magazine Wmtd-zine.com from Holland gave the Jairus album an awesome inspiring review, it was just a pleasure to read it quite surreal. "From the first tones of "Lucco Sleeps On Screen" I am surprised by the intensity of Jairus. When track five ("Our Modern Red, Selfless"- a very touching interlude) kicks in you'll be amazed by the diversity and technicality of this band. By the time the last song "Ara Pacis" finishes you have been on a journey through various mindstates. Sadness, anger and despair are just some of the emotions fired at you." [more]

Tuesday 20th April, 2004 - Arigato Japan

I just wanted to say arigato and thank you to everybody in Japan for buying a copy of the Jairus "The Need To Change The Mapmaker" album - thanks a lot again. The Japanese version is an enhanced CD so you can view a live video on your computer.

Jairus are playing a hometown show in Folkestone on 1st May at The Harp Club with also Photobook so come down to the show, it's last one until September/October as they will be on European Tour all summer. You can get tickets for the Shai Hulud / Jairus show from Skipworth here (no booking fee).

Thursday 15th April, 2004 - New reviews, RockSound covermount CD

Amazing news just in is that The Ileon music will be used as soundtrack to an independant movie directed by my friend Miguel Uhlfelder in Portugal, more on this soon. Seems like a lot of people are enjoying listening to Ricky's from Jairus side project The Ileon. Nearly 1000 people downloaded the EP already which is amazing.

Rock Sound and Metal Hammer magazines hit the shops in UK this week with great reviews of the Jairus album, we are stoked to bits so check those out. Also in addition to the review in Rock Sound there is a feature on Jairus too. Next month Jairus also have a track on the Rock Sound covermount CD.

Thursday 8th April, 2004 - Introducing 'the ileon' (Ricky from Jairus)

"This is "the ileon" something I have worked on as a side project to Jairus and maybe now is the time to share it" says Ricky from Jairus. Whilst Jairus were recording the album and in between touring Ricky wrote and recorded his own 3 song ep that is now available for download for free. Then when out in Finland chatting with Skippy (Skipworth Records), Skippy was madly into the stuff Ricky was doing (Our Modern Red, Selfless from Jairus album) and his other stuff so there came the idea to release it for free as MP3 downloads. We think now is the time to share these so head over to The Ileon to listen to the ep for free. Hope you enjoy it as much as we love the songs. Skippy and Ricky.

Saturday 3rd April, 2004 - Jairus Japanese album version

Today in UK shops you will find the April TERRORIZER issue that has the Jairus "The Need To Change The Mapmaker" review! There is a super scary morbid face on the front of the issue so you cannot miss it hehe. About the review the album received 8.5/10 and said: "The Kent quintet have evolved beyond their inspirations, incorporating huge washes of atmospheric electronica and jagged discordance into their stylings; the effect an engulfing soundscape of emotion and texture that positively belies their youth..."

"The Need To Change The Mapmaker" is ALBUM OF THE MONTH at Planet-loud.com (UK) we are thankful for another incredible review! Also it's ALBUM OF THE MONTH at Furyfanzine.com with an amazing review there too. A quote from PLANET LOUD review: "To say The Need To Change The Mapmaker is an astonishing piece of work would qualify for understatement of the year. From start to finish this is one of the most beautiful and challenging pieces of work to emerge from any scene."

PLAY.COM are selling the Jairus album and if you are looking for a great deal, you can buy it from PLAY.COM for only £7.99 with FREE SHIPPING! Also online from HMV.co.uk, SAINSBURYONLINE.co.uk (£8.49), Amazon.co.uk and Goodlife Webstore so it's all well priced we think. Monday 23rd February, 2004 - New Jairus MP3 from the album

To top things off some new music taken from the Jairus album THE NEED TO CHANGE THE MAPMAKER we have for download the closing track titled Ara Pacis. Now that 22 thousand people have downloaded "And Caligula Blushed", it's time for a new song for everybody to hear. So Ara Pacis is the closing track of the album and I am listening to it right now, probably one of my favourite tracks on the album it's very heavy, has interesting time changes and flavoured with the classic Jairus sound. Drop by the media section for free MP3 downloads.

Thursday 19th February, 2004 - The Need To Change The Mapmaker

It's been a busy week, the phone has not stopped ringing and yesterday I went out for lunch with Sam (Abjure drummer fame) and his friends to celebrate his birthday so let's just say we ate while 182 meters in the air (600 feet / 42nd floor)! Damn that's HIGH. Frank (Million Dead / Kneejerk) came along too so it was just fun to catch up and stare at London from this tall building. Onto some news then.

Jairus debut album THE NEED TO CHANGE THE MAPMAKER for Skipworth Records is officially released on 22 MARCH 2004 (Europe & USA) so from then it will be available in record stores. You can pre-order copies now and we'll despatch all pre-orders on 24 February 2004. Jairus have copies for sale on tour with them also. Let me say thank you to all the people that picked up a copy already at one of the shows and also thanks so much as so many people pre-ordered it too, it's very kind that you are checking it out. I hope everybody enjoys it as much as we do.

THE NEED TO CHANGE THE MAPMAKER album comes in a stunning looking CD Digipack with a matt finish and full colour throughout, the whole 9 yards baby we have gone all out on this as it's a special album! Check out the Online Store for some cool real life photographs of the release and to Pre-Order or Mailorder it.

Monday 9th February, 2004 - Feeling speechless

Hi everyone, it is pretty hard to describe how amazing me and Jairus feel right now, our last night in Latvia and we got in at 6am from ice-skating, eating out and then chilling out in a cool Oriental Spa where Liga works (Edgars friend). We fly back to London at 13:40 so we are getting few hours sleep and then to the airport (damn I just remembered I have university at like 9am ohh well going to miss that one obviously). Anyway, last night Jairus played in Valmiera at the Nokia Air Snowboarding Event and every minute felt incredible and straight from the heart. I am pretty speechless still 24 hours later and so are Jairus because the show was just something else! We really want to thank every single person there for making it so beautiful. See you, Skippy.

Friday 6th February, 2004 - In Latvia with Jairus

I am in Latvia with Jairus and everything is really great so far, we are having a blast and adventure.

Wednesday 4th February, 2004 - Heading off to the airport

I think Jairus are heading off to the airport now and I am leaving in a few hours to meet them there. Then we're getting on a big plane to Latvia, should be amazing - check out the shows where Jairus are playing.

I leave you with the latest photo gallery from Deluge last UK Tour with Jairus. Amazing photos and thanks to Balty and Paz for taking them and coming all the way from Spain for the show (great to see you again!). Check out the photos. Got to run bye, Skippy

Tuesday 3rd February, 2004 - Jairus journal entry

I think this Jairus journal entry says it all;

Subject: I never wanted a clam-chowder steak...
16:11 GMT Tuesday 3rd February, 2004 by Dan

Not even two days to go now until we board a big, scary plane to Latvia. Apparently it's 'fucking cold' there. But anyway, just enough time for one last journal entry before I start packing bags etc..." Read Journal.

Wednesday 28th January, 2004 - Jairus 'And Caligula Blushed' Video

We filmed some live footage on the Jairus UK tour with Deluge in November and have the Jairus video to "And Caligula Blushed" to show you HERE. You will probably see yourselves busting out the moves and some sneak previews of the forthcoming album artwork. Tell your friends and spread the word thanks. View Video.

You will also find Jairus music featured on Frantic Sound website in Denmark, in France on Headinstars.com (with photo report from Nantes show) and played on Radio NABA in Latvia last weekend together with Deluge, Converge, Green Day, Evilsons and many more. Many thanks go to Steffen, Erick and Edgars.

Right I'm out of here, it's snowing in London so time for a snow fight :)

Tuesday 13th January, 2004 - Jairus in Latvia and Estonia

Last week was cool, I was in Barcelona with Veronique having an awesome time, walking down the Ramblas, bit of shopping and offcourse the tapas bars! So what's happening already in 2004?

Jairus are playing in Latvia and Estonia this February, all dates are in the Tours section. They can't wait to play at the Nokia Air Snowboarding Event and also the Punk Festival so hopefully we will meet a lot of you there.

Friday 2nd January, 2004 - Deluge split up after ten years

It's very sad to let Deluge go and see them split up, we have had the most amazing times together on tour, working on releases and just having fun. As they are my close friends we keep in contact all the time and I look forward to their new band. On the UK tour last month we all had an amazing time, so many people showed up to witness the last Deluge shows ever and we want to say thanks to everybody. Here are a few words from Deluge:

Okay peeps, this is it. After almost ten years Deluge has decided to quit. We had the best times of our lives and have reached a lot of goals we set when we were only fourteen years old; playing shows in nine different countries, releasing records and have lots of fun doing it.

There are various reasons for us to break up, most importantly because it seemed impossible to find a new and solid drummer (seems like we suffered from the Spinal Tap curse ;-)) after our good friend Robert left Deluge.
Without him Deluge just wasn't the same anymore and doing some shows and a small tour with Robert as a temporary drummer lately made it extra clear to us. This was Deluge and we all think it should stay like that.

Robert will now put all his effort in his main band Uppercut again and the four of us and a new drummer will appear in a new band sometime in 2004.

It's time to say goodbye, but not without thanking everyone who has been there for us all those years, especially Robert, Taco, Skippy, Maarten and Jothan.

Love,
Auke, Bart, Simon and Tobias

Monday 17th March, 2003 - Jairus joins Skipworth family

Finally we announce and welcome Jairus to the Skipworth family. Fordirelifesake joined, then Deluge and now Jairus, this makes quite a family huh?! I am super excited and happy to have Jairus join Skipworth, an incredible live band who go absolutely crazy and make equally outstanding music! I also became close friends with Jairus very quickly and they are people who truly know what Skipworth is about.
As Furyfanzine.com said "Jairus's unique sound is hard to pinpoint – they fuse the raw passion of US peers Hopesfall and Poison The Well with the complex song structures of Tool and At The Drive-In to create something truly worth loving. From gut-wrenching screams to poignant vocals and spoken word, Jairus are pushing the boundaries of hardcore day by day."

View Jairus tour dates with Hopesfall and Eden Maine here, download "And Caligula Blushed" in MP3 section, read Jairus biography and see what the guys have to say in their journal. Jairus have their official website at www.jairusonline.com and their MP3.com page at www.mp3.com/_jairus_.

Thursday 13th March, 2003 - Fordirelifesake live in Tokyo video

After a 13 hour flight, followed by a day of sleeping we are back from Japan in one piece! Once again I want to say the biggest thanks to Daiki Takeda for organising the whole tour, Fordirelifesake for being fucking incredible band and close friends (I couldn't believe it when I finally saw them live it's something else out of this world), shout out to the amazing guys from Endzweck (an inspiration to be with and watch live), Cosmic Note Japan, Kentaro our crazy driver (is this vegeterian? - maybe), Naiad and all the bands we met on tour, the promoters for their hard work and all the people that came to the shows said hello to us and spoke with us, we love you guys! - thank you from the bottom of our hearts we will never stop smiling about how amazing this tour was!!! I will miss Fordirelifesake guys so much, it was great to be on tour with them.

Back to reality - as promised here is a video of Fordirelifesake live in Tokyo Japan with 350 kids singing along! View video (poor sound quality as I filmed it with my digital camera) but you can see Fdls live in action tearing the place apart! I have like 700 photos from Japan so probably new photo everyday in Photo Of The Week.

Deluge mini tour starts today through Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg, full dates are posted. Also at www.deluge.nl you can stream Deluge´s part of their new split with Fordirelifesake.

Sunday 9th March, 2003 - Tokyo Japan last night

OHHHH MYYY GOD! Tokyo tore the place apart last night, over 350 kids dancing their hearts away, it seemed unreal. Thanks to everyone there who rocked out.

Friday 7th March, 2003 - Sugoi Japan

Hey everyone, still in Japan on Fordirelifesake / Endzweck tour - this tour is just beyond incredible! Fordirelifesake have just been ripping everything apart each night, for me it's so great to see them live and they go off so much I didnt even imagine it!!! Endzweck are the best touring buddies and those guys are insane.

The 2nd show was in Shizuoka at Sunash and we drove past Mount Fuji - we all managed to take about a million photos and just going woah woah woah all the time! Tonight the club was packed to the max, Endzweck went so crazy that first the guitarist dived into the crowd followed by their drummer (!!!!) and the rest of the band. We were watching from the side of the stage and couldnt believe our eyes. Tonight Fdls went off even more than in Tokyo with kids singing along, stage diving. We were all amazed by the great welcome. After the show we stayed in a 750 years old temple and once again ate traditional Japanese food in the morning.

3rd show we drove to Nagoya and it was snowing all the way. The show was also really intense with the club being packed to the max also, felt like hell it was soo hot. Before the show we walked around Nagoya, went to a cool record store and just hanged out. At the show, Endzweck and Fdls went crazy and so did the crowd, half of the club dancing was insane loads of stage diving it was becoming hard to control the crowd. After the show Fdls were signing loads of CDs, then everyone headed off to the local bar for the afterparty (more on this later I think I dont remember much of it).

After about 3 hours sleep we were driving to Kyoto half awake for the show at Whopees with Naiad. Before the show we visited the local temples which was incredible, I got like 40 photos in there! The sound today was soo powerful and the crowd danced real hard and sang along. Fordirelifesake went off from the first note I just couldn't believe my eyes and ears, people stage diving, loads of singing along today again and people tearing the club apart! Unreal! Naiad went insane and I thought I was watching Hellfest when they were playing...!

5th show today and we were driving north for like 8 hours through snow after 3 hours sleep once again, we got to the venue Woody sound checked and went to look around town. We found a local music store and Brian Fdls walked in first and just walked out - Fdls was playing on the stereo in the music shop we couldnt believe it!!! Show was great today also, Commune played a really tight set of their melodic hardcore punk and Fdls finished up with another insane set, watching these guys is incredible they have soo much energy and passion for the music and to hear all my favourite songs live like Sometimes Like The Tide its beyong words!!! After the show we had a big feast meal all together and we stuffed outselves with sushi and then drove to the next show in Yamagata.

So 6th show, Yamagata was already sold out before the tour started. During the day we went around the town, just hanging out making phone calls home and checking local areas. Then Fdls were working a bit on a new song until start of show. The show was awesome but it was impossible to breath, it felt like hell. Again an insane show and crowd went crazy, I dont think 1 more person could fit inside the club is was that full!

7th show we headed off to Sendai but shortly after driving through mountains we hit a major snow storm and had to buy special tyres to be able to carry on driving through the mountains. It was sooo scary, snowing and driving on edges of cliffs. So we got to the show a bit later and missed the first 2 bands. Tonight show was great and again there was hardly any space to move in the club with around 180 people in there.

OK 2 more shows left, still cant believe we are in Japan, its rocks here and people are so kind and great everywhere. Got to go...

Saturday 1st March, 2003 - Japan

Japan is unreal, we are all amazed! Fdls just played in Tokyo tonight and it was an insane show. Amazing

Friday 15th November, 2002 - Tom Winter talks to Deluge

Our newest Skipworth team member, Tom Winter had a quick talk with Deluge and here is his amazing article. Many thanks to Tom for writing up a great piece! Here it is...

It's been two years since Deluge's last material hit the streets, via the bands "Spot In The Shadow" full-length. But now, you can all get a taste of what is to come from the bands forthcoming split CD with up-and-coming US sensations Fordirelifesake with Deluge's latest track "The Promise". Landing on Internet servers around the globe at 8.00am GMT on Monday 18th of November, the track is a classic slice of the band's original fusion of hardcore and punk. A 100 second blitzkrieg of pure energy and emotion.
Band front man Auke agreed to give me a few words on the track. In relation to the bands older material, Auke feels the track is "More dynamic", describing it as "an energetic oldschool song". The reasoning behind the Internet only release is simple; "As our last release was like 2 years ago it was time to do a new release. Because the split will be released on 22nd January 2003, we all thought of something like why not release a new song just to let the people know we're still alive. But you're not going to release one song on CD, so we combined it with the promotion of the upcoming split". But perhaps it is more than this. This song will make seismic waves from the underground, bringing the band to a worldwide audience. Cracks will begin to appear in the ground that keeps those of you content to wallow in music which is unchallenging and lifeless safe.
The track has almost become a cult-classic before release; "a promise bears high expectations, but I can't predict the future" says Auke. Well on the 18th of November everyone shall know, but I can assure you, contrary to the lyrics in "The Promise", the bands inspiration hasn't gone, and their creativity certainly hasn't been overcome.

Tom Winter

Good morning everyone. It's 9am on Saturday morning and I am just about to grab my bag and head up to north of Spain to a city called Girona for the day! Should be fun yeah. Now I feel like a tourist again.

Well Fordirelifesake keeps getting stunning reviews; "I think most guitar players can only have wet-dreams of playing like this", "Maybe this is the missing link between the madness of Converge or early Cave In and the harmonic yet dynamic songs of Newborn?", and the newest review "All these components and the stunning guitarists piling on layers of melody which combine to make a polyphonic sonic masterpiece. Fordirelifesake - from Detroit, Michigan - are set to be your new favourite USHC band." Please check out the full Reviews.

Again, a million thanks to everyone who keeps checking out our releases and sending us nice emails. It's so amazing to see kids from Japan, Italy, USA, UK ordering stuff thank you so much for your support.
